Springfield Truck Driver Training Review – Corey Hart
Title: My C1 Experience
Graduation Date: 6/24/2012
I do not know where to begin. I have been pondering obtaining my CDL ever since I retired from the Army. I bounced around for a while between a few police departments, and even worked at a hospital as a nurse before I took the plunge and started at C1 Truck Driver Training.
From day one I felt that I was a part of a family and a very strong team, just like in the Army. Roy was a wonderful instructor that put all my worries of the permit testing day to rest. The testing was a breeze!
I only had one yard instructor – Paul. Where do I begin about Paul? Well, let me put it to you like this: the man sits on a gold bucket for a reason. He took me back to day one of basic training all the way through graduation from ranger school, in just two weeks. He is a wonderful instructor and mentor.
The ladies in the office were great, and even would volunteer their time to make phone calls to trucking companies for you if you needed it. With their help, I landed a wonderful job with Farner Bocken, a local LTL delivery company. I cannot wait to start working!
Rich, the director, was very professional and cares about his students like he does his sailors. I cannot express my gratitude to Rich and his staff enough.
Again, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, there are so many that I did not mention, but I will be back in a few years to be an instructor. That is how much of an impact this place has made on me! God bless you all, and keep up the good work!

Hey Corey -
Thanks for sharing your story with us! My story is somewhat similar to yours. After I retired from the Navy, and spent a lot of time pondering what the next phase of life was going to bring, I decided to go to truck driving school and start a career in over the road trucking. After some time out there trucking, I felt it was time to get home. My Military training and experience truly set me up for success, as I know that yours did as well.
The disciplined structure that trained us in the Military is very similar to what it takes to be successful here. We have a very limited amount of time to get a lot of information covered in order to get you passed and get you on the road to your new career.
The time that the office staff spends helping people to find that right carrier is more than just a job. It is something that they truly enjoy, because the return they get from seeing someone getting their CDL and getting that new career is a very rewarding thing.
We always love to get our past students to come back in as instructors later on down the road. In fact, 25% of the instructors at our 5 C1 schools are actually C1 Grads. I think that stat says a lot about who we are, and what we do.
Take care Corey, stay in touch, and always put safety first in everything!
